What Is A Good Glassdoor Rating?

What Is A Good Glassdoor Rating?

What is a good Glassdoor rating? If you're in recruiting, employer branding, HR or a job seeker, go to Glassdoor and look up a company and see they have an overall rating on a scale 1 to 5.

Years ago, we were told that 3 was the average rating, and then it went to 3.5 as the average. However, if your Glassdoor rating is anything below 3.8, then you're considered below average. And if your CEO rating is below 73%, it is considered below average.

There was a time when recruitment marketing, internal/external comms, and HR were fixated on company reviews and ratings on Glassdoor. They would gather employees and encourage them to give the company a positive review. The only problem is that Glassdoor changed the game.

If you're in employer branding or recruitment marketing, you can not improve your Glassdoor rating by having a "push" to get employees to leave positive reviews and ratings. Their algorithm is designed to create a rating system that can easily be undermined by a handful of negative reviews, despite the effort to generate numerous positive employee reviews and ratings.

Here is what they did. They give weight to recent reviews, and over time, those reviews will carry less weight. Watch this short clip to gain a better understanding.

Now that you understand how Glassdoor regulates reviews with their algorithm, watch this next video clip to learn what is actually a good Glassdoor rating.
